Cholla Principal Biography


Kay Brack Steward, Principal

Ms. Steward was born in Durango, Colorado. She attended elementary school in Durango and Shiprock, New Mexico, and high school in Ajo, Arizona. After high school, she attended the University of Arizona where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career as a kindergarten teacher in Ajo. Ms. Steward also taught kindergarten and 1st grade in the Washington Elementary School District in Phoenix. After moving to Prescott, Arizona, Ms. Steward taught kindergarten, 1st, and 3rd grades at Taylor Hicks Elementary School where she was honored with the 3TV Silver Apple Award. She was also nominated for the Yavapai County Teacher of the Year award.

In 2003, Ms. Steward earned her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. Moving to Casa Grande in 2004, she started her administration career with the Casa Grande Elementary School District as principal of Cholla Elementary.

When not at Cholla, Ms. Steward enjoys spending time with her children, Trevor, Brad & Amanda, Kimberly & Erick, her grandsons, Freddy and Auggy, and her extended family and friends around the state.
